My mother has been through menopause and has had some spotting about once a year. When she would visit her doctor, her doctor said she was fine. Finally now, she tells her she has a thickening in her uterus. She said it COULD cause Cancer. She's been having pelvic pain too and she's going to have a D&C. Is it likely to be cancer? And how long does it take for Hyperplasia to develop into cancer?
Thanks! I really need the help. Posted on 01/14/08, 07:01 pm |

they found polyps on my ovaries after months of bleeding .I went in for a d and c when they took a tissue sample they found cancer cells..I was told I had two choices,1 i could wait it out and every 6 months get a biopsy to see if i had cancer yet or get it all taken out..i chose the latter of the two..but please get a second opinion there may be another way

hi... how is your mother doing now? The only thing is to stay positive and fight it mentally. I just had a polyp removed from my uterus and it was atypical complex hyperplasia... at the age of 21... and on top of that i got another ovarian cyst in the same place where one was removed a few months ago. Sucks a lot. But i've been reading around it there is a less than 50% chance as some say. but it depends on whether it is simple or complex. my doctor said at my age u try treat it with medication but then women in the late 40s and 50s they usually end up with a hysterectomy. The only thing i can say is that dont ask how long it takes for it to develop into cancer... fight it mentally and say it wont develop into cancer i wont let it
