Hi. I am new here. I have NOT been diagnosed with cancer, but I am a higher risk for this type of cancer. I have polycystic ovarian syndrome.
I have always had irregular periods...I would go months and months without one.. I finally got diagnosed with PCOS in 2003. Back then I thought all it affected was fertility and I was not ready to be a mom back then so I didn't really think about it...and the metformin they put me on made me so sick, and protemtrium to induce periods made me so sick.. ..anyway to mamke a long story short... Here I am now 31 years old.. I tell my doc I am ready to try to get pregnant. He orders a pelvic ultrasound. The tech does the ultrasound and tells me to wait...she is getting the radiologist..So the radiologist comes in and re-does the test...they whisper back and forth and point at the screen.. Then the radiologist tells me in that "so sweet voice".... you have lots and lots of cysts all over your ovaries (I'm not suprised.. because I knew I have polycystic ovarian syndrome), then she says "you also have one pressing against your bladder" (no wonder I had to pee every 15 minutes lately!)...and then she says "And your endometrium is enhomogeneous"...and was very quick to say "Don't worry, it's not cancer". Well, I went home and looked it up online and all I can find is cancer websites...that this is similar to endometrial hyperplasia and that is pre-cancer... I'm nto sure if I have the facts right, but this is how I understand it. Anyway, my doctor tells me she is not going to test anything because I am only 31. She said, now if I was 40 and having these symptoms (pelvic pain, irregular bleeding, and thickened endometrium, inhomogeneous endometrium) then she would do a biopsy or something to test for cancer.. What do you all think about this? I know she is the doctor, but I think I should be tested... It would ease my mind. It stresses me out to no end. Posted on 04/18/08, 06:04 pm |

Hey White,
You and I have the very same symptoms vey same or rather similar story, I did have a thicken endromtrium or still do i guess, but my doctor insisted that i have a biopsy done, he said he would not gamble with my health. I am 33 years no kids, Two other doctors previous to him did not see it neccessary for it to be done. However my test came back and very thing is fine. But I can breath better that I had it done and everything is fine. So do what your intuition tells you, its your health your life.

I think I should find a new doctor. I am worried and scared. Having the test would at the very least, ease my mind some..however I would still be scared that cancer could be in my future.
