Pressure update & stitch in cervix question

Last night I started to really freak myself out about the pressure so I called my dr and he said just to be on the safe side I should go to Labor and Delivery @ the hosp and get checked out. So... we did. They put a contraction monitor on and you could definitely see when the pressure started and stopped but it was just showing up as an irritation not contractions. So they are not really sure why its happening but they weren't too concerned about it unless I start cramping too.

Another thing they found is that my cervix is shortening a bit not opening but just shorter than it was. We may have to consider a stitch. That in itself doesnt bother me but the prospect of bedrest really does. Anybody have a stitch? Did you have to go on bedrest?

Thanks!

" How late can they do a stitch? I am not sure about the bedrest part but it would probably be a little bit at first to be sure your cervix does not thin any further. Good luck! "

" We've been discussing the stitch throughout my entire pregnancy. I think the latest they will put it in is about 23 weeks. We've really been trying to avoid it and so far have succeeded. I'm 21 weeks with twins as well. Starting at 18 weeks I have been getting a shot of hydroxy progesterone, or something like that. It is supposed to keep your uterus from being irritated. I think it is working. I was having pressure a lot before the shots and now only have it about once a day. I would definately ask if the shots are something you can consider. I was on bedrest for 14 weeks with my last twins, some in the beginning and some at the end. It's not that bad and definately worth it. I was able to bring my babies home from the hospital with me. Good luck! "

" no stitch here or bedrest, but i remember the pressure...ugghhh...nothing like 4 feet in the crotch and the stretching...I wore a belly support and that REALLY helped...eleviated some of the pressure...also...try to go for a swim...I swam my entire pregnancy and it made a HUGE difference...good luck "

" I just bought a belly support and I am hoping that by using it early I buy them some extra time. Thanks for the swimming tip, it may be hard to do here but I will look around. "
