I am a recently seperated mother of one who is currently pregnant with twin boys. I am 27 weeks along at this time and am ver anxious about their arrival. Being a newly single parent and expecting two more soon has been a heavy load to carry around with no one to talk to. I guess I just really could use any advice on parenting twins with a toddler in tow. I'm extremely nervous about doing this all myself, but unfortunately my daughter's dad left when he found out our one more was going to be two more.

" I feel for you! I am not a single mother, but my husband works 15 on 6 off, a few hundred miles away. so when he is gone i feel like a single parent!
We have a 4 year old and the twins are 7 months now.
the biggest peice of advice i can give you is don't under-estimate yourself. you did it with one, and you'll do it again with two!
1. stock up that pantry! Cook meals and freeze them.
2. Stock up on baby items, diapers, clothing, etc.
3. Try to nurse! It will be hard (especially ifyou didn't with your first) but it will be easier in the long run. I nursed our first until a year, and am still nursing the twins. It's healthier, and cheaper...and there are no bottles to deal with. So much easier.
4. Enlist help now! Family member, friends, neighbours, church members (if you are religious), twins support groups in your area. If the extra money is around, hire a nanny ahead of time. You'll need extra help in the evenings for sure. I found that I was fine during the day, but evenings (and bedtime) were really bad if I didn't have help.
5. Spend time with your first now...there won't be much time for that after!
6. Get a GOOD stroller. We bought the Peg Perego stroller (have to get peg perego car seats as well). It's pricey, but works really really really well.
Good luck and keep us posted! "
