I want to apologize. I am not mad anymore. I realized that it could have been a lot worse. I never realized that I was one of the lucky ones. Even though I was exposed, I was also treated right away, and I actually know many people who actually live in denial, because they think it cannot happen to them.
But, I know people who have been effected, in my school, some family, and friends. Every year, I went in for a lung exam, and no, I wasn't the one exposing it, I took my meds like a good girl, I did what the doctors had asked me too! That is probably the most important thing you can do, is take your meds. I think I was diagnosed when I was 19, and here I am at 35, and doing good! I didn't have symptoms when I was tested. could that have made a difference? I don't know. Well, ok, I was just "exposed" to the virus, I didn't actually have it, maybe my paranoia has kept me alive. regardless, I am positive. The most important thing I can say about this disease, is GET TESTED, If you haven't. The worse thing you can do, is let it progress where it gets worse. taking a couple pills a day isn't a real big deal, even if it is 6-8 months, maybe a year or longer. and, take all of them! nothing worse than a resistant strain. I never realized that the Nurse who tested me so long ago in that school saved my life. She made sure I took my meds, even though I hated it. God Bless her! the normal reaction, would be to deny anything is wrong, if you don't have any symptoms, right? I mean, I have heard that one before. Oh yes, and by the way, unfortunately, this disease knows no money barriers, It knows no color, or religious affiliation, or anything. years ago, when I tried to search about information on TB, it was all bad news. It doesn't have to be, I realize that now. I'm due for another checkup, I have been doing this on my own for awhile. I go down to the disease control of the state,or to the Doctors office and get my xrays for around 20-30$ every year, just to be sure.(more at the doctors office!)I want to live a really long time. I think I will. Posted on 08/23/07, 03:08 am |

Well, even though my TB is inactive, everyday I live with the thought of TB becoming active, and one day killing me. I …
