Latent TB and non treatment

I had a dream last night where I got sick and died from my latent TB. I guess it's a real fear for me.
I'm not treating mine because the doctor and I discussed it and it's safer for me not to treat it due to...ummmm....I forget. Something to do with my other conditions or my Bipolar Disorder where it would cause more harm than good.
Anyone else scared and not treating?

" You should really reconsider. Talk to your doctor more to understand the reason. It could kill you later on and not treating might be seem like no big deal but when you fall ill or get older and it turns active you may have wished you found another way of treating both. good luck. "

" In some ways I agree with previous posting, but I would love to know the reason why your doctor is not treating you.
Latent tuberculosis is where a patient is infected with Mycobacterium tuberculosis,
but does not have active tuberculosis disease. Patients with latent tuberculosis are
sometimes infectious, and it is possible to get TB from someone with latent tuberculosis.
The main risk is that approximately 10% of these patients will go on to develop active
tuberculosis at a later stage of their life. The identification and
treatment of people with latent TB is an important part of controlling this disease. "

" Reading your last comment, you really need to form a better mind set. Dying of TB is horrid and no one should have to suffer. You should really try to find time to treat it before it is too late. "

" Anyone out there that is diagnosed with Latent TB make sure you have the blood test called " Quantiferon TB gold test" it is a simple blood test that will determine that you do have Latent TB. I was told by a MD that I had it because my skin test was positive, I ended up seeing an Infectious Disease Dr. they sent me to get the blood test and I didn't even have it! ( this was after I had started the med, which was horrific to be on) Also, Latent TB is NOT contagious, and the chance of you getting actual TB is 5-10%. Do research and weigh the risk of getting TB versus risk of being on the medication. I have been off the med for a month and still have inflamed liver, pains, for me the LTB med was a nightmare to have to take. Hope this helps "

" SpecialK, thank you! That is my exact situation. I have hepc so we are not treating my latent TB. It's too dangerous for me to take the medicine and I'm not really at risk to become ill from the TB and I am not contagious to anyone else so it's in my best interest to not treat it. I did have the gold test and saw an expert at the contagious disease place. I kinda blocked it from my mind because it has been very traumatic for me since my positive skin test which ended my new career and changed my life.
Thanks to everyone for your support!
Love and peace, Syroness "
