My country is irresponsible when it comes to dealing with a crisis, here in the good ol' U.S.A.
If someone is paranoid about catching TB, well, they SHOULD BE! If I was infected, I could be spreading it around right now in church, at the grocery store, in class, and at the school. and, sadly, thre are people who do NOT get tested, because they feel IMMUNE to the disease! well, it can happen to anyone. and, all the flippin reports I have heard, treat it as if you can only catch it in an institution, or a prison or something! this is sooooo UNTRUE! And, it is a "hush hush" stereotype. people think that if they don't talk about it, it will go away, as IF! It is spread through the air. it is spread through ventilation systems. It is spread through coughing or sneezing! family members give it to other family members, and co workers to co workers. patients to nurses, and nurses to patients. I can't believe there is no new info on this subject!!!I was exposed when I was 19. that is, 16 years ago. I took my treatments. So, yes, you can live a long healthy life after you have been exposed. but, how long? and am I going to have the stereotypical shadow that I was incarcerated or something, and that is how I got it? OMG! It has taken me 16 years, to get angry about this! I have been embarrassed for 16 years, because of this 'disease' while the CDC continue to allow this to spread! employers should be testing their employees for TB, not drug use! before you get your passport, you should be tested! before you enter school, tested! before getting your drivers license, tested! before renting a home, tested! and, DEFINATELY before crossing the US border, TESTED! If the CDC was doing their job, and my workplace was doing theirs, then this would have never happened to a US CITIZEN. namely, ME. Posted on 08/07/07, 08:08 am |
