I had a dream last night where I got sick and died from my latent TB. I guess it's a real fear for me.
I'm not treating mine because the doctor and I discussed it and it's safer for me not to treat it due to...ummmm....I forget. Something to do with my other conditions or my Bipolar Disorder where it would cause more harm than good. Anyone else scared and not treating? Posted on 03/12/08, 11:03 am |

You should really reconsider. Talk to your doctor more to understand the reason. It could kill you later on and not treating might be seem like no big deal but when you fall ill or get older and it turns active you may have wished you found another way of treating both. good luck.

In some ways I agree with previous posting, but I would love to know the reason why your doctor is not treating you.
Latent tuberculosis is where a patient is infected with Mycobacterium tuberculosis, but does not have active tuberculosis disease. Patients with latent tuberculosis are sometimes infectious, and it is possible to get TB from someone with latent tuberculosis. The main risk is that approximately 10% of these patients will go on to develop active tuberculosis at a later stage of their life. The identification and treatment of people with latent TB is an important part of controlling this disease.

Reading your last comment, you really need to form a better mind set. Dying of TB is horrid and no one should have to suffer. You should really try to find time to treat it before it is too late.
