i am about 5 1/2 months pregnant with my son. there is a marker on his chromosomes my doctor tells me that is Trisomy 18. my doctor says he doesn't see anything else that would cause him to think my son has this, but is it possible that further along in my pregnancy it could be found?

would you suggest i have the amniocintesis to find out for sure?

" Hi. I'm sorry you are going through this. The only 100% diagnostic test is an amnio. If you've never had one, it is really not that bad. Like getting an iv. I would really suggest having it done to know for sure. Any questions, please don't hesitate to message me also. "

" well i am going to a high risk doctor because i am a diabetic so we'll see what he says....but i guess my question is no matter what i want to keep my baby, so is getting an amnio necessary? "

" I knew carrying to term was my only option. I wanted to know prior to birth what type of medical problems we would need to be prepared for. What kind of birth plan to put in place and all the other preparations that go with having a baby, healthy or not. What type of marker on his chromosomes did the first doc see? Was it on the US? The only way to see chromosomes is thru CVS or amnio. Other soft markers may show up on US. If you have any questions, post a discussion or msg me. Believe me, I've researched this extensively. Good luck w/ your new OB. "
