Trigeminal Neuralgia Support Group

Hello... I'm taking 600mg of lyrica per day. It's not helping much, but just enough to stay on it. I get pain on the left side too but it's minimal and not constant.

I have found that many different scents aggravate my nerve pain. Have you had problems with this?

Hi ~ I've been on Lyrica for a couple of months. I tried to wean myself off and got into some major trouble (pain!!!) for that. I just wanted to believe I was in remission. Ever heard of denial?!? Anyway, it's holding the pain at bay for me, it's more like it's an echo now and not really happening directly to me ~ so I can handle that any day to where I was at! Good luck! Dian

Wow I have beenon Tergetol for 3 Years 200mg every 6 hours and it helped for awhile then I went into REMISSION I guess I was pretty good for awhile then I started to slow down on taking Tegretol Bad choice, Then I had an appt with my Neuroligist and told him about it,He suggested that he really wanted me to stay on Tegretol so I went back on regular doses. then it hit me again. so he prescribed Lyrica,I took that started at 50 twice a day then after a couple of months no help with pain they increased it to 75 3 times a day then a couple of months went by and still same pain.I called and they wanted to increase it to 100 I said NO I was feeling like I wasn't here.. if you know what I mean.. so I wanted to get off of it. I stopped immediately. WRONG CHOICE> a bad weekend of withdrawl.so oom Monday I went to my reg DR. she put me back on 75 for a week and then I spoke to my Neurosurgeon and they put me on a program to slowly stop.. Thank good ness I am off of LYRICA .I was just taking more and more meds and it wasn't helping with the pain. so now I am on tegretol which I haven't stopped by the way.
I am still in pain and hoping things will subside soon.. I have a n appt with a neurosurgeon to talk about Gamma Knife on Sept.. I need to talk to him to see what is available.
MY PRAYERS ARE WITH YOU ALL .I KNOW WHAT IS HAPPENING AND WISH IT WOULD JUST GO AWAY..

I am taking lyrica. I did'nt think you could take 600mgs of that.I was told only 300 per day. I bet you felt like you were in another world.I have horrbile episodes that will last for hours. Which seem like a lifetime. Some only last for 30mins or as long as the vicodin takes to kick in. I hate this pain. I am a librarian in an elementry and just hope and pray I don't have flare up when I have kids. This is my first day with them and so far so good.Please wish me well. Thanks for listening. If anyone has any suggestions on what they do when they have an episode please help me with some ideas.

my neurologist told me i can take 600 mg per day. i've been taking it every day for over a year. yeah... sometimes i feel out of it from the drug, but when i do i'm in less pain. i'd rather be in less pain. niku

It really didn't help me when I had one of those out of control (ten day long) attacks. All it did for me was leave me in pain with stupor as a bonus. (at 50 mgs 3x/day) I stopped it after three days, because I really could not function on it at all.

I took Lyrica... but unfortunatly I am allergic to milk. And what no one told me was what makes it a little liquid capsol is milk. Don't take it if you are allergic to milk or lactose intalerant. I almost died.

Do you have electric shock-like pain on both sides of your face that comes and goes or dull, achy pain daily?

Several patients in the Texas Trigeminal Neuralgia Association support groups have tried Lyrica with some getting relief. More people with the dull, achy, daily pain seem to do better on the brand name drug called Neurontin and not its generic called Gabapentin.

I WAS ON 600MG OF LYRICA A DAY AND I GAINED 30LBS IN ABOUT A MONTH. IT INCREASES YOUR APPETITE LIKE CRAZY! YOU BECOME RAVENOUS! MY HUSBAND IS ALSO ON IT AND IT MAKES HIM VERY DIZZY AND DROWSY AS WELL. I DON'T KNOW IF IT WORKED FOR ME OR NOT AS I WASN'T ON IT THAT LONG. BEST OF LUCK TO YOU!
