Hi

After 8 months of severe pain I have been diagnosed with trigeminal neuralgia. I would love to have some support and someone to chat with about symptoms etc. Sadly I am still at that stage where I believe something serious must be wrong for all of this pain to be happening. I think my Dentist is in despair with me. Again, I have insisted I have an x-ray to rule out any dental problems. Is it normal to believe that you have severe toothache and if you have all your teeth out then the pain will go away.

The pain can be horrendous and I am struggling to look after 3 year old twins. I have been given mediation but it is still early stages and trial and error as to what is going to suit me.

I have pain in my face, into the eye, gums feel swollen (although the Dentist has assured me they are not), the gums burn and the teeth are so sensitive. I am now going pain to the ear and what feels like a lump in my throat.

I look forward to hearing from you.

Lisa

" Sounds like nerve pain to me. It takes time to find the right meds and time to build up to your dosage. That is the worst answer I can give, but waiting is your only option. Make sure that your doctor works well with you or find a new one. It is vital to have a good doc. Hope you are feeling better soon!

" You indeed aren't alone. We've all been there, in fact still are! If you don't feel that your doctor is actually *listening* to you, I would consider finding one that does. Hope you find the right meds and that they help soon!
Love and Peace......... "

" You are most certainly not alone, not only do you have these wonderful and supportive people here, but most importantly the greatest listener any of us can have - Jesus. So many times I find myself at my wits end, then I remember this is not burden alone to carry, He is there always. I do pray that you if you need to find another doctor who listens as well as educates you. I am blessed to have just such a doctor. Blessings to you and your family. D "

" Lisa, I am new too. Today got the diagnosis. I have been reading everything I can get my hands on. And I really enjoy reading everyone's story. I am feeling better myself when I hear that someone else can't even touch their lips or wash their face.... Why does it take doctors so long to figure this out? I have tegretol to start taking- however today (believe it or not) I was pain free... so I am waiting, just waiting... until I feel that familiar JAB, to start my meds. "

" Hi Lisa, I have just joined and am looking for similar support to you.I have had a year of virtually no pain which is encouraging but now that it is back,i feel a bit more equipped to deal with it now! Iike you i thought it was my teeth then my ear and took a while to find out what it was.Ithink it may gave been triggered by dental work and bad cold Ihave 2 kids 6 and 3 and i undrestand how difficult it is to keep going when you want to curl up in a ball! am going to start meds again Gabapentin and I find that heat helps if only that it is comforting! talk again soon "
