" That sounds like migraine pain. uh.... do you also have migraines?

Where is your pain? Is it the top nerve that runs through your temple and eyes? If you struggle with pain in the top third of your head/face it would make sense that you'd be light sensitive. Squinting could be a trigger for nerve pain. "

" I wish I could figure out what my trigger is. I have kept a journal and not one thing special causes it. It just happens. "

" Smiling, laughing, chewing, talking and cold air are some of my triggers. Or sometimes the pain just comes on suddenly without any of those triggers. I've never had trouble with bright lights. Sometimes my eye will feel like it is being pulled from inside my head but again that just comes on suddenly ~ no trigger. I hope you figure out what is going on. "

" I do get eye pain, like being stabbed. It's only in my right eye. There is no trigger. Certainly bright lights haven't brought it on before. Like others here, it just occurs.

Are you wondering if you have TN? Your profile doesn't say much about you.

Hope you can get some help! "

" keely, some TN people are sensitive to heat or to cold. Cold can bring on pain for me, particularly in my temple and jaws.

Could it be a temperature change causing the TN to start?

Just a thought. "

" Light does not trigger the TN for me but I can understand how it could. The movement of your mussels contracting and releasing could irritate the 5th nerve thus causing a trigger point. When I get a really horrible attack my right eye tears up to the point where it looks like I am crying; maybe I am crying because we both know the extreme pain levels TN can reach. You might want to ask an optometrist if the 5th nerve is involved with the eye movement. This may be a stupid question but have you tried sunglasses even when inside? It may help. I know that I am reaching here but I loath to see anyone go through TN flare ups.
Take care
Mike "

" Certain sounds will trigger mine. My neuro told me it was a form of auditory pain triggered by a lesion on my brain. My son takes violin lessons, and I have to plug my ears when he plays. lol I also have trouble talking on the phone, and certain music, like Boston (one of my favorites) will trigger TN. It also makes the side of my face and sometimes my entire right side go numb. Stress can also trigger it for me. I take chewable Tegretol, and that almost always works on the pain...but not the numbness. I haven't noticed bright light triggering TN, but I am very sensitive to bright light. ~Jlynn "
