I was diagnosed with Trigeminal Neuralgia in October 2007. After 4 MRI's.

I was put on neurton, which seemed to work well. I have been on it since november and recentely with in the past week i have had some of the worst T.N. pains of my life. The very worst one was at a track meet, I was done competeing and I was watching with my mom standing.. When it hit me I sat down and was brought to tears and there was nothing i could do to make it go away.

" I know dear! Tegretol keeps mine under control for the most part, but those breakthroughs are horrible! Check with your doctor to see if he will give you something to take for the pain when it does hit. It seems that I have more attacks when I let myself get run down physically. Try to take care of yourself, get enough rest, eat right and see if that helps.
Love, Peace and Hugs "

" Hi there I got TN at Christmas which started with a toothache, recently I had a major operation on this called Microvascular Decompression as I had two veins which had come away and I lived with the pain 24 hours a day I am now in my 6th week, last week I thought it had returned so got back on drugs but in last 3 days seemed to have disappear which is rare for me as its been first time in 6 months without pain. There are ways of getting rid of this search internet for a neurologist in your town as there are options of getting rid of this for good. Take care "

" Yes Sprotty, there are ways to get rid of this. My Dad had the Gamma Knife Radiation Surgery done. He was suicidal before the surgery. After it he was pain-free for 4 1/2 years. This past December the pain came back. No messing around this time...zip...back to Texas and had it redone then left for a month in Italy to visit my sister! Still no more pain. He says if he has to have it redone every 4 1/2 years, he will!
There are other ways as well, but this one worked for him (doesn't for everybody). "
