Pulling eyelashes

I have been pulling my eyelashes out for more than 25 years. I have pulled my eyebrows but it is nearly 99% my eyelashes. It started when I was about 9. My mom would tell me to "just stop" but I couldn't. I have had very few times since then where I actually let them grow back. I can't remember the last time I could wear mascara.

I have never understood why I do it. I hate myself after I do it and I really want to stop. I have felt like a freak for so long and wondered what is wrong with me.

About 4 days ago, I saw a video on the news and was so relieved that I was not alone and there was actually a name for it.

Does anyone else have this problem (eyelashes only)? Has anything worked to help you stop?
I haven't researched it a lot so I really don't know but it seems like there isn't a real cure. Is there hope?

Any suggestions/advice would be appreciated.

" Hi - I am an eyelash puller - have been since I was about 11 - am now 36! so it's been 25 years as well. I also started pulling my eyebrows when I was around 23 (after the birth of my first child) and now have no brows at all, but have them tattooed on.

The good news is that I have just grown my lashes back for the first time EVER!!! That's right - it's been over a year since I actively pulled them. I just decided one day that enough was enough and I used extreme willpower to do it, and now I don't even think about it!

But on the downside, I still have trich, and I still need to pull, so my brows suffer.....

There is hope - I didn't find out I had trich until I was about 29, up until then I thought I was the only person in the whole entire world who did the crazy things that I did! Unfortunately there is no quick fix or instant cure.

Good luck! "

" I have been pulling my eyelashes for about 5 years, I also pull out my eyebrows. I don't have any eyebrows or eyelashes right now, but they continue to grow in thankfully.

I always thought that I was some sort of a freak because I thought I was the only one in the whole wide world that pulled, but then I found out that what I had actually had a name and that I wasn't alone. I really hate pulling and want to stop, but it is so hard. I know that there is always hope and that you should never give up. Just going a day or an hour or even a minute without pulling gets you closer to stopping and that proves that there is hope for beating this thing. Stay strong! I know we can get through this! "
