I have been pulling for about four years now and it seems like a never ending battle that i can't win. I am so depressed right now and i cant seem to stop pulling. I feel like i have lost my motivation. I dont want to keep my hands busy or try and stop. Whats the point. I feel like i will struggle with this for the rest of my life so i should just get used to it. I know lots of you feel the same way so i thought maybe you could give me some advice.. i just dont know what to do.. i could just keep going on and on about everything but i would like to get fast responds

Thanks

Amber

" We've all had that feeling and you need to know that the feeling you are having will pass. I like crzychick's example that it's kind of like being an alcoholic. It's tough. But you have a good support group here and if you keep working to find a plan that works for you and then work your plan, you will get better!!!! It will be a baby step at a time...not all at once...but it can happen for you. Keep your eyes on the goal and don't give up!! "

" How do i make a plan or a goal? I've had them before and it just didn't work. Right now I'm on anti-depressants to try and help and of course it doesn't. The longest i have ever gone without pulling was 23 days....

I just dont know.. i seem to get more depressed when i try and stop pulling and fail "

" Look back at your victories..what helped, what worked. And set a small goal, one you know you can reach! Success builds success, so with each small victory, you will feel more confident to try a bigger one. "

" 23 is a great start. i dont think ive gone a single day without pulling for quite some time now. kudos for you! i do understand what you are going through, ive been pulling for close to five years now. at times i get really depressed. im have social anxiety and just plain old anxiety. and i think pulling has definitely added to everything. its a stress reliever for me. but dont think there is NO hope out there for you. but you have to want to stop and be committed in order to begin helping yourself, body and mind. dont give up hun! im here for you if you wanna talk. take a look at my journal if you want, i wrote one about getting help once again. dont think youre not worth it! " it seemed to be that once i started on my antidepressant--zoloft--that the pulling got even worse. don't worry i just had to start over my goals last night. we can all do this together. the most important thing you have to think about is #1--not giving up and #2 it's never too late to try. just because we have lived with this for what feels like forever is by no means reason to say oh to hell with it i guess i'll deal. we hate ourselves when we pull--at least i do. and the hating probably led to the depression and anxiety in the first place. we have to start from the beginning and take baby steps....go create a goal. to be pull free for the day. just stay active with this site. i try to come on every time i feel an urge and am near my computer. don't give up no matter what. i'm gonna keep checking on you!
