Chest Binding

I just recently came to the realization that I am genderqueer, and I tried binding my chest just to see how it felt. (It felt amazing, by the way). But I was wondering if there is a "right way" to do it, or if anyone has any advice on how to do it. Mine was kind of make-shift and would not be appropriate to wear outside or anything, because it would probably fall apart. I also just wanted to shout for joy that I discovered this about myself! I have identified as a lesbian for a few years, and I still consider that to be a part of my identity, but I don't consider myself completely 100% female. I am somewhere on the gender spectrum between the two primary genders, though I am still closer to female than male. But even so, the chest binding was a liberating experience for me! Oh, and I was wondering how well genderqueers are accepted by the LGBT community, especially the gay and lesbian part of the community. I know I kind of rambled, but this is all so new and exciting for me. This is so much better than when I figured out I was gay, or should I say queer now? Hmmm... Anyway, I guess that's because I am already comfortable with being different. I already went through that scary part of insecurity and doubt, and now I've discovered yet another aspect of myself. Ok, I'll stop talking now. :)

Hi Dragoness,
Congrats on your new "discovery". I don't know how genderqueer folks are accepted (or not) within the rest of the LGBT community, but when I transitioned, I did have a few problems with some of the lesbians I associated with. Regardless, you have to do what you need to make yourself happy. Until you are true to yourself, you'll never know who your true friends are. As for binding, there are websites that can give you tips. You can find some sportsbras and other commercial means to do this. I've never used any of those because I'm too cheap to spend the money on them. What I used to use was a cutoff panty hose top under ace bandages. This is a bit time consuming and can be a bit painful to use. Now I am using a back support that closes with velcro. It is still painful, but a lot less time consuming. Anyway, good luck with your self exploration. Later, Jeff

I have a friend that uses a binder that looks like a tank top. He says its the best thing to use but they can be expensive and when you wear them you have to get use to them, wear them for a few hours and slowly work up to wearing them all day.
I don't know if you can get them at any stores but there are websites online. I don't know which sites are good. New ones cost as little as $30 but I've seen sites that sell used ones for under $10 if you don't have a lot of money. Right now I use sports bras although it doesn't work as well as I wish it did.

i heard about someone using neoprine waist supports as a binder but thought that it would never work. i gave it the benefit of the doubt and tried it. it worked!!!!! i had never looked better. i am a double d and it gave me an almost flat chest. it is comfortable and something you can wear under your everyday clothes. i found the bandages very uncomfrotable but tese ar cheep and comfortable.
i hope this helps x

You can go the expensive route, if you're fairly small chested you can use ace bandages, my having a slightly larger top have always used a regular tank sportsbra, control top panty hose cut into a sportsbra shape, then a racer back sportsbra to keep a smooth look. Starting out the pantyhose is gonna kick your butt, but it does the job.
