Transgender College Research Paper - please help

I am a 20 year old female with a TG (MTF) fiancé. She was going through transition before I met her. I have known her for over 4 years, we were best friends for around 2 years then we started going out for a year and we now have been together almost 16 months, and been engaged almost 4 months. I support her choice, I see her has female not male. We have a long distance relationship (She lives in Texas, I'm in Ohio). We met online but I have spent some real time with her.
I also have a good friend who is also MTF and from her I know the troubles she goes through with people snickering and making fun of her, plus her being afraid to eat out.

I am taking a class called Cultural Diversity for honors credit.
Cultural Diversity is about the exploration of American diversity in terms of the dynamics of intergroup relations from past to present. Groups included in the exploration: racial, ethnic, social class, gender, religious, age, disability, and sexual preference. (Definition came from schools course catalog)

For the honors credit I have to write an 8-10 research paper, and do a 10-15 minutes presentation, which is worth about 20% off my grade.
I have decided that my topic would be Transgender. It fits the class and although I have some understanding because of my fiancé, and another friend who are both MTF, I want to have a better understanding and expand my knowledge.

It will be something that not only educate myself, but can educate someone else as well. I want it to be a positive spin to TG but also try not to be biased (on any side). But I also want the wording and terms to be the correct words, and not offensive to TGs.
I hope to have it finished by mid-May so I can send it to my fiancé (I want to surprise her by having it done early and by doing a good job and not needing too much editing) who will send it to others to check it out as well.

I was wondering if anyone has any good informative and reliable websites about transgender. Wikipedia is not considered a reliable source. Any helpful personal information would be appreciated as well. :)
Helpful books would also be nice, which I will try to find from the local libraries or college libraries.

I am considering putting a survey on there, for both TG and friends/family of TG to fill out. It would be voluntary and no answers will be linked to a certain person. Also there would be an option to message me the answers instead of putting them as a reply.

Topics that will most likely be included in:

" If possible look into getting the book 'The Transgender Studies Reader'- edited by Susan Stryker and Stephen Whittle.

I read it for my transgender studies class and I think it might help you. "

" Hello, I hadn't noticed your request before now and I haven't been on this support line long. Mid-May is passed. My one thought would have been this, if the paper is 8-10 pages and your report 20 minutes, it occurs to me that you have way to many topics included in your list. There would not be time to do more than a tour through the topics and little opportunity to develop information and present any personal comments or insights of your own. you might have considered the issue issue of a biological woman being engaged to a biological man who is moving towards the life of a socially maturing m2f woman. It would be an interesting paper examining the topic generally and then reflecting on your personal experience of that. For example, "What does it mean to choose to be engaged as a woman to someone you know has lived as a man and is now living as a woman?" or, "what does it mean to society that the two of you are in this relationship with its inherent complexities?" I believe that would be a paper of great interest to others. It might be of great interest to you and your fiance. And if you were able to present an honest examination of the issues it would be educational in the best sense of the word. Too many "tours" are at best entertainment and at worst prove a disservice to those you love and may well be disappointing to yourself. I laud you in your intent and support you in your effort.

I wish you well. "
