I know EVERYONE of the cases tha I have heard or read about, have in common that their child is older than 2 yrs old. I have been so worried about my baby girl who is now 9 months b/c I feel she is showing some signs of tics. I knwo shees not fully developed but I have a mild case of TS. I started noticing it a couple weeks ago. Mia was 8 months old and she would do this shiver moevement which at the time I thought maybe she was peeing and got the chills. I started noticing other things, she would shiver, she would kind of go, "uhhh" like a scream and she was making the same little face each time. SHe would make funny moevements with her arms too. I told my pediatrician bu of course as I expected, she said it was normal. Has anyone seent this in their babies? She's now 9 months and she kind of stopped but she still kind of shruggs her shoulder a couple times. Could it be that I am so paranoid that she will be like me? Please help me I am so scared and sad I can't even sleep anymore and I can't stop crying!!!!

" There is absolutely no reason to think that these are signs of TS. Babies make all sorts of jerky movements and make sounds just to hear themselves. My son, who does have TS did stuff like that AND my daughter who does NOT have TS did stuff like that. I promise it is normal for babies to make all kinds of funny tic like motions. I'd just file it away and try to to enjoy her. "

" Hello!

I would say that you should try not to worry too much at this point in time--especially since she seems to not be doing it too much anymore. But, I would say if you do see things happening again, start writting down what you see and also try to video tape her doing the actions. It sure would help a doctor (and I would recommend a pediatric neurologist--not just a pediatrician--sorry to say but even the best of them are often CLUELESS about more advanced issues like brain disorders or autoimmune issues (been there & done that even with the best peds!)!
to see a video--ours was glad both when we video taped Danny's tics but also when he was having seizures at age 2 and we were able to capture them on video.

I really hope your baby will be healthy and happy and just know that no matter what, you will love her!

Hugs!
Kristin "
