I know each child is different, but right now hunter is pretty mild... he started sniffing yesterday, that is a new one now,, I prefer it ove the throat clearing, that is weaning it self off, only a couple na na na.. lately... he has no idea what he is doing,, I saw him in the van he was kind of dancing in his car seat to a movie song, his arms were going in a circular motion and he was making some noise, i am like, look curt, he said he is just bopping to the song, stop staring at him shelley, I analyze everything wondering if it is a normal behavior or a motor tic, or a new phonic one,, it is so weird to even say those words, TIC, TIC, TIC,, definetely a word i never thougt I would hear in my family.... I phoned the tourette chapter in edmonton here and talked to a women for an hour,, she has an 8 year old son with tourettes named Hunter, can you believe it, I have only met two hunters in my life, and another one has tourettes, i said maybe we should not have named our child hunter.. she was an amazing women, and explained that tourettes is a spectrum disorder and maybe my hunter might only have tics, and nothing else, or associated disorders will come over time,, I defienetely would say hunter has an anxiety disorder, he is a very timid child, and scared very easily, I never thought much of it but now looking back, he is always scared, i took him to spiderwick chronicles, dumb idea, I should ahve left the theatre, but we were with his younger friend and he was fine, so i thought he will be okay, he has not been able to pee in the bathroom alone, he always asks us to come with him, he does have night terrors, he sleep walks, not so much anymore, but for about 3 years, at 11 pm every night he would come out to the living room and would be asleep, also he has mild and moderate delays which I associated to his stroke, but it was interesting because th doctor told me that his delay should be in motor not in learning, so he said there might have been some other damage that just didnt show up on the mri... he does zone out alot too, do any of your kids do that , sometimes i need to say 3 times, hutner, hunter , hunter.. and he would say ,, oh,, what... I had just said to my mom a month ago, something is still not right... wierd huh, a mothers intuition, my husband would always say, he is just lazy, he is ignoring you... he is a boy, i was like that , he is in such denial, it is really sad... but he is a wonderful husband... and that is what counts... well I better run... take care.. hugs.. shelley.

" Hi

My sons tics started at the age of seven, just clearing his throat and sniffing a lot. After 1 year, just out of the blue he started having jerking movements in his body and throwing his head forward. This was far worse than the throat clearing and sniffing. He also rolls his eyes a lot and blinks.
I think 8 is a common age for tourettes to start but after reading so many stories it can obviously start at any age.
How old is Hunter?

Kelly "

" The Tourette Syndrome is actually the least of Wesley's problems. Of course he does have it, but it is the "stuff" that goes along with TS right now that is so bad for him. OCD, Anxiety Disorder, ADHD. In fact his neurologist just sent him to a psychiatrist that specializes in TS, OCD, Anxiety, ADD and ADHD. Wesley of course has all of the above. He just started medicine yesterday for the ADHD. We're hoping it works. "

" Yeah, it does come with other goodies sometimes. My son has OCD, ADHD, sleep disorder, anxiety disorder, moderate clinical depression, etc. etc. Seems never to end. However, my son is very positive and he feels he is stronger than most people because of what he has overcome. It's all in the attitude. You can help him a lot by being a positive influence. On the other hand, I'd love to say that I helped Evan have this attitude, but it's him, really. He's just a great kid. I'll bet Hunter is too. And by the way, I know lots of Hunters. All great kids!
