Since we are new to the world of tics, I was just wondering what type of tics you are currently experiencing (if you have TS) or seeing in your loved one?

Sniffling, scrunching up my face, echolalia (repeat what others say), blurting out, cursing, eye-blinking, leg shaking, foot-tapping, hair twirling, facial twitching & grimacing, burst out laughing out loud, grunting, squinting, throat-clearing, feeling the need to scratch where I'm itching, or else I go insane. & some other things I can't think of.

My son started with playing with his hair (is that a tic?), then went to scrunching up his face. We didn't think much about it, just thought he was itchy.
Then, last November at shool he started the head shaking back and forth. It was hard because when you would ask him a yes or no question he would shake his head no, but say yes. I finally learned to wait until he spoke to me. But it really broke my heart. It didn't help that the school counslor didn't want to help with him. She just said that school stressed him out too much and he shouldn't be there. My son didn't feel that way, and neither did his teacher. The counselor always made me feel like I was a bad parent. The school is supposed to help our kids succeed in school not kick them out! Luckily now, we may have found a good school that is willing to help him, not punish him for something out of his control. - Jenn

my tics right now are the ones that i seem to be stuck with. i've had them forever, they're just not as...violent, as they used to be.
i bob my head forward, tense then relax my forearm (which makes it twitch,) i constantly clear my throat (and the more nervous i am, the worse it is. there's only so much you can blame on allergies.) and i tend to crack my knuckles alot, though that one's not so bad anymore. i've found that (my) tics have grown less and less severe over time, almost like i'm outgrowning the worst of them. (i'm 19 now,) and they seemed to really disappear around the time i entered high school. i am praying for all of you parents of kids with TS, that your kids "outgrow" their tics too.
