I'm Afraid of The Dentist Tomorrow

I'm sorry to post this here, but there's no forum for teeth problems or dentist phobias.

I have to go to the dentist tomorrow, and I may have to have one of my wisdom teeth pulled.

I'm freaking out right now, because I have a severe phobia of needles, drills and the dentist.

This might stem from being given two root canals when I was 16 and two teeth broke. The dentist said I wouldn't feel anything because he said the nerves were dead, so he didn't give me any novocaine, and just started drilling.

At first it didn't hurt much, but the pain increased to the point that I was in total agony.

Those memories are still with me, and I've gone to the dentist very infrequently because of it, which is why now I may have to get my wisdom tooth pulled, cause the cavity is so big a piece of the tooth broke off, and I'm doubtful it can be saved.

I'm totally freaking out right now.

Does anyone have any suggestions as to how I can deal with this situation?

Any help, advice or support is very much appreciated.

Thanks,

Erik

" Hey Erik I am sorry to hear about your fears but I to and VERY FEARFUL of the dentist. I to had a couple of bad experiences as a child and young adult and I tell you just the thought of walking into an office makes me want to pass out, throw up you name it. The only way that I have found that I can even sit through a filling or teeth cleaning is to be given Triazolam I think it is and be given nitrous, but if they are doing anything else I need to be knocked out. the hard thing is to find a dentist to do that as far as the complete sleep. I sure hope your appt. goes well and I hope you cn find a really caring dentist. take care and let me know how things go. "
