how are you ever supposed to habituate when your tinnitus is constantly changing? It drives me nuts! the buzzing and the squeaking and the hissing......I can't help but be envious of people out there who have never even heard the word "tinnitus". I so long for the days I will be truly happy again. Sorry- had to vent a little~***

" Hi Becca,
I know what you mean about people's ignorance of t. I experienced that yesterday. Also the grieving of the old days when your ears were perfect. But you are improving, and will continue to. Perhaps get total relief in time. How did your t happen? I am going on 5 months. Everybody has something. Ever looked at the other DS support boards? I am just starting to enjoy life more even though I hear this thing 24/7. Question for you. Are you still doing TRT? Do you do it in person or on the phone? How much does it cost? Mark "

" Gurl, I just about lost my patience with this thing yesterday. I can totally relate to your anger, frusteration, concerns, and overall well being. It totally sucks that this has happened to any of us, but I have to say, without this board I'd be screwed. You guys are giving me more strength than you know.

And yes, Mark, I have read some of the other boards. It could be far worse than what it is for us, and it's just heart breaking what other's are enduring. But at the same time, I cannot let this distract me from my mission of a cure. I beat Hep-C back in the early 90's, I can beat this too! "

" you go girl! at least we are all in this together. Mark I am still doing TRT- I do it over the phone once every week, and see him every 3 months. It cost around 5,000 for everything. Not including my gas and hotels. Pricey, PRICEY!! "

" I always like seeing that pic, you have a truly brilliant smile, Becca. If we ever have a DS Tinnitus Calendar you and rosssu are definitely bound to be Miss June and Miss July. Yowza..

About habituation, JohnK said it best when he mentioned he felt 90% of people will habituate at some point or another. I feel most here are within that 90% and can take relief in knowing they WILL habituate. And even that 10% with the loudest tinnitus find a way to learn to live with their own type and volume of tinnitus.

When I first got tinnitus I felt my life quality was cut in half and it was going to be that way until death do us part. Well, guess what, less than 2 years later, I now know I couldn't have been more wrong. And, to be honest, I almost want to cry thinking about what I put myself through the first year in relation to how much better I feel now. Just know that, yes, you will all know a day when you'll smile wide, look to a sun filled warm sky, and be deeply thankful you had the strength when it was needed most. You're going to make it through this just fine.

Just as russso mentioned, sharing with others is one of the best ways to take on the challenge. Wishing all of you all the best. "

" Oh man, SnowRider, I'm sitting here crying as I read your message. Thanks so much for your strength offerings, wisdom and insight. It's good to know that there are "survivors" of this wicked affliction, and that you are one of them.

There are days when I think I can get through this, no broblem, but there are other days when it consumes my life and drags me down. The negativity that I feel more than anything is the worst. Where I was this up-and-coming 40 year old four months ago, who felt she had finally gotten over some of life's many financial and emotional challenges, getting on her feet and feeling great; in her place now is a very sad and frusterated person who feels targeted at life's worst. I know I'm just blubbering right now, but your message truly touched me. There IS hope now and I thank you for putting it there. I thank all of you!

P.S. Thanks for the compliment too..., I'm blushing here! "
