I've not been offically diagnosed with tinnitus but for the last 2 weeks (very LONG 2 weeks) i've had this constant noise in my head that sounds like what a TV does when you first put it on. I am comparing it to the sound of electricty. Sat here with music on i am still very aware of the noise.

I definitely have (often) the really loud ringing in your ears that comes from no where and lasts for seconds, but this noise now...is all the time.

Any ideas?

" I am sorry to hear you have it also. I have had it since 1997 and I have tried everything out there. Today, I have been just miserable - the noise is louder than a vac cleaner. Stay on this site and you can learn a lot. Today, I am asking for Help; it has been a terrible day for me. I am thinking what I ate last night made it go up. Yesterday, it was just idling if you know what I mean. Go to dr and let him run some tests. Good Luck
Precious Bama "

" The first time I went to a doctor, after 2 weeks of feeling like there was something stuffed in my ear, it took only a minute before he told me that I might have tinnitus. He referred me to the ENT and I left already feeling a little puzzled that this might be something other than water in my ear. It so happened that I had recently taken time off from my job because my depression was severe. As the weeks went by I could not understand why, of all things, would I have this noise on the right side of my head. And it kept getting worse. I demanded that the doctors do something because I don't do well with stress and things I can not control.
I began researching Meniers Disease, tinnitus, vertigo and searching the Internet for some answer to this, literally, crazy making noise in my head.
I would wake at night and want to run out the door to get away from the loud whooshing and pulsating that never, ever stopped. On Friday afternoons I would get really anxious and call the doctor's office insisting the prescribe something or I would go insane before Monday.

I know, I'm going on and on with my story and you probably want to hear the good news about tinnitus, well I can tell you that for me tinnitus is something God gave me because things are always the way that God means them to be at that time.

Every night I can't believe how I have been able to cope yet another day.

Can I ask your age? Has your hearing been affected? One ear or both?
I've been told by several dr's that tinnitus does not have anything to do with my hearing loss.

Overall, I feel so blessed that I do not have true Menieres Disease because that can keep you homebound and never knowing when an 'attack' might happen.

Keep us posted! "

" yes welcome, to the dark side, you have plenty of company here. you have a good description of just one of the things that I live with daily. you will find out, if not already tinnitus has a mind of it's own it comes and goes when it wants and it will be loud or soft when it wants. It can't be bossed around, believe me I've suffered going on 13yrs. with this demon along with no usable hearing to quiet it down. I too have the static or snowy sound of a tv when signal goes out along with a lot of other sounds that plays at the same time. It's not sent to you by God believe me God sends the good stuff,Saten sends the bad, God helps us cope. Tinnitus will drive you crazy if you don't try and get a handle on it. Just put one foot in front of the other and get through one day at a time, I keep hopeing the next day will bring a cure and if it did I would like us all to be in one room together for a group hug, and hope of course at the same time my hearing and hypercusses would be gone too!
