thats interesting info regarding the sound generator pushing the sound to the other ear in some cases, and makes explicit sense based on what little I've researched about centralized tinnitus.
Was your accident in 01 automotive, if I may ask? And what was the extent of the head injury?
Did you lose some nominal high frequency hearing due to the accident or was it just naturally occuring?
I've read about the pavlovian method that TRT employs and I still believe TRT to be among the best method(s) available. Nueromonics is still an open verdict, I cannot find anyone who has said "Yes, it has definitely helped me". Thats not to say I want someone to just say "yeah it works" for the sake of lip service. I'm just still waiting to hear from anyone to say they benefited from it in relation to the cost. Thanks for the time, effort anf thoughts Fall. Means a whole lot.

Hi Snowrider, The accident I had in 01 was due to a motorcycle accident, my husband and I were on a ride one Sunday morning when we made a turn and caught some gravel and started to slide, right into a parked car. Thank goodness it was parked and not moving. I received a bad concussion to the back right side of my head, broken wrist, split bottom lip, multiple contusions, but thank God we are still alive. My husband had a few broken ribs, needlesly to say we don't have the bike anymore. It left me with Tinnitus and positional virtigo, which I have been doing head exercises to correct. I often wonder because I hit the right side of my head, if that's why I have the T on the right ear. No doctor can tell me for sure, I'am just guessing.I think I lost some hearing because of the accident, maybe it would have come on anyway, who knows. I just found out about it when I went to Emory for the TRT. HUGS Fall

Hi BarbaraN, You can read my journal entries about tinnitus re-training therapy. I found Dr. Jastreboff and Emory University on the Internet when I was researching Tinnitus. The therapy has really helped me in habitating to the T. It will take a while longer, it's been about 7 months since I've been on it and I feel that its one of the best things that I've tried for my T. If you would like to talk just e-mail me. I care hugs Fall

Fall, can you approach the Emory clinic directly, or do you need a referral from an MD?

Hi Greg, You don't need a referral from a Doctor you can call them directly for an appointment. They will send you a question form to fill out about your Tinnitus and some information on the clinic and the cost of the therapy. The phone # is 404-778-3109. Hugs Fall

Hey fall could you give us more information about the therapy. Where are you having it done?, How much does it cost?, and What does it involve?. They were charging me in Vegas, 5500. Is that about right?

Hi Queladilla, You can go to my journal and read more about the therapy. I went to Emory Univ. in Atlanta. The cost is aroune $4500 for the ear generators and the first six months of treatment. The therapy could take up to two years, depending on the individual. You wear the generators which look similar to hearing aids for about 12 hours a day, they emit a soft soothing sound that mixes with the T and helps you habitate to the noise. It doesn't cure the T ,just makes it less noticible and some days I don't hear it at all. Last week I went 6 days without any noise. It came back but it is lower in volume. From the first month I was on TRT the volume was lower. I think this therapy is the best thing that I've found for T. E-mail me anytime, I care. Hugs Fall
