" wow, might be a good idea to avoid anymore of those, repeated cortisone breaks down a joint, and you dont want that to happen to your tmj. For now, alternate between ice and heat several times a day. a good way to get heat is to fill a sock half way with rice, microwave it for 2 and half minutes, gets nice and warm. apply to your jaw. but be careful, depending on your microwave whether its too much heat. for pain double up on motrin and aleve. check out the NTI at www.drjimboyd.com. this splint is fda approved for tmd and migraine and the guy has appeared all over network news shows. " my doctor just put me on muscle relaxers until i can get the nti splint. i have only been taking them for one day but they seem to be helping. my neck and back aren't so tight today. she also gave me sleeping pills so that i am relaxed while i'm asleep so i don]t clinch or grind. hopefully i'll be able to go back to work again.
