My step brother casey just got out of jail.Casey is onbe of my favorite brothers.He has always supported me and loved me.No matter how bad things have gotten.Like casey i am also the black sheep of the family.Meaning i wont bow down to his mother.My father has found that i am very opinionated.Though that didnt supprize my mother at all.my mom told me "Honey your dad doesnt know you that well.Does he?" i could only shake my head and say"Mother no he does." i was raised in a family where you speak your mind.So when i heard my step mom's doc said she couldnt work because she had fiber mialga i just rolled my eyes.She had been trying toget out of working for years.This is just and excuse for her not to.The doctor only wanted her to cut her worrk days in half.you know work part time.Well things got worse.She wanted casey to use his money to pay her bills.he already payed on of the bills and i believe he was paying rent as well.Now my brother is moving away.Not to mention my step mother was going to go to florida to be with some guy.I dont know what to do.My family needs a serious mental examination.I have 3 brothers and us all together arent that bad.Please someone i need to know what to do.I cant take this madness much longer

I'm sorry that I can't give you any answers, but just support your brother and let him know you are there. I know it can be hard but he needs to know you will be there. Hope this helps.

Sending you many hugs. I too have a 'say what's on my mind' attitude. Its hard but you can't make people see the light, they have to see it for themselves. Why don't you and Cassie get an apt together? I know its frustrating but we all have dysfunctional families. Hang in there.

I'm curious how many years of medical school you've had which would qualify you to disagree when a licensed Physicial diagnoses a case of Fibromyalgia?
I think you should quit worrying about about your step mother and your father. They're both adults and capable of making their own decisions. You know a lot about that being that you are very opinionated. Let them do the same for themselves. Support your brother and help him adjust to a honest life so he doesn't return to jail. This is a critial time for him.

It can be difficult when so many people are mixing together in one family. A positive attitute will always help a blended family be more sucessful. I am a stepmom and it seems that sometimes, my stepsons and I just simply do not agree on things. I usually take a step back and allow their dad to be the mediator but it still causes problems because we do not agree sometimes. Unfortunately, disagreements happen in all families, blended and/or bilogical. Luckily, you and your brother get along well. Rather than taking sides, just be there for him. :)

I hope this doesn't come of as patronizing. I have three daughters older than you; you are very young, inexperienced, hurt and angry. Your situation sucks - you wouldn't be writing here if you were thrilled with life! Your family life is confusing, but not as bad as others. Even with all the problems I have with my step-kidz, what they survived, you wouldn't have. I agree with Orange...stop trying to fix the others and get yourself right. And don't judge people about things you know nothing about. I represent people applying for SSA Disability benefits. SSA considers fibromyalgia a disabling condition, depending on severity. I watch My m-i-l and one of my best friends suffer in agony every day. Yes, some people try to scam the system, and just try to find a way to not work. If your step-mother's doctor encouraged her to apply, and she does, he will be called on to defend his position. Most doctors won't do that if they don't believe it. Are you positive you understand everyone else's situations are objectively and clearly? You do need help, and I'll be glad to listen. We're not all wicked step-mothers...
