55+ Hours and Counting...

Hi All,
Well, so far the first 24 hours were the worst as far as physical craves. Now it is more like thoughts and they are sporadic. It's so hard to drink my morning coffee...that is when I would smoke the most and those were the ones I enjoyed the most. Yesterday was easier for me than day 1, but was harder for Hubby :( After work, we decided to drive up to Cave Creek (45 min drive) for dinner. That killed a good 4 hours, but also was hard because long leisurely drives really made us want to smoke. But going places where you cannot smoke is a GREAT suggestion, especially in those really hard first days. I'm also so grateful to DS member "forerica" for suggesting black licorice...OMG that stuff takes away my cravings immediately!!! I'm not a big candy eater, and I don't want to get sick of it, so I only use it when craves are bad...especially when driving. I found Good & Plenties to be oh so helpful :) So, thanks foreica! OH..and I had read on here about people feeling guilty for having smoking dreams. At first, I was having dreams that I was quitting and even in my dreams I would have to be strong and not give in to smoking. Well, last night I had my first smoking dream! In my dream I actually was sneaking a puff and then felt guilty about it. The odd thing was that it wasn't even MY cigarettes that I snuck...it was my hubby's brand, which I cannot stand! LOL Ok, so try to interpret that one! :) So, as of hour 55+ I am fighting hard to not listen to those whispers in my head and telling myself that no, I do not really NEED a smoke. I may WANT it, but I don't NEED it. It's just those dying nicotine receptors begging for a fix! And I think the thing that makes me not give in the most is remembering how EXCRUCIATING that first 24 hours was. I honestly don't think I could re-live it again! Posted on 07/10/08, 01:07 pm |

Black licorice is a good thing! Watch out too much is a good laxative too...LOL I'm with you on the coffe thing I won't give it up....luckily it wasn't a trigger for me...I quit smoking in the house 10 years ago so I didn't get to enjoy the 2 together for a long time....I've still cut down on the coffee just because of the caffine... You stay strong and hang in there and keep flushing your system drink tons of water and get that crap out of your body! Breath Free!!!!!!!!!!!
