Mother's Day

OK, as I'd now, enjoyed almost a full year of holiday's as a single father, even in the midst of divorce last year, the kids and I made a nice dinner for my then, soon to be ex as we'd lived together the first ten months of the year, God help us...

Didn't want the kids to roll to mom's empty handed so the following scenario played out...

I had bought a gift around Christmas, it was at this kiosk thing in the mall, a young attractive woman stopped me in front of the kiosk and asked to observe my hands, long & short, she gave me a buffed up hand nail thing which, was "buy one get one free." So, I bought two cuz, one was "free"...

Anyway, tonight, I said to my son 'we need to wrap that nail thing to give to your mom for mother's day.'

his reply... "dad, we gave it to mom for Christmas."

Me. Oh, why do we have one in the closet?

Him. cuz you got two remember?

Me. Oh snap. Now, rolling up to 24 hr. CVS to get her a card & some, I don't know chocolate or something? Maybe some hair spray?

I just want my kids to be able to give her something, and also, as she sees we can put things behind us and why wouldn't I have the kids acknowledge their MOTHER on Mother's day...

Hmm. Actually, now I recall last Mother's day. She sat on the lounge chair sunbathing while the kids and I played in the yard and washed her car for her...

I know, nothing to do with single dad thing, but are any of you doing anything for your children and/or encouraging them to buy or make a gift for their mother's on mother's day?

" Wow J,you must have broke off with very little ill feelings to be able to get along so well within the first year of the break! more power to you both!
My children and I went to the crafts deptartment or the local walmart and put together a bouquet of artificial flowers with a nice vase with sand and river rocks in them.We made one for their grandma(my mother) and their mother. We took everything to one of our favorite parks and assembled the arrangements. We had a great time and they looked real nice.I also took them to get cards for her.Tomorrow,I have to get them to her by 10,which is a drag because I am now almost 20 milesaway,my fathers b-day party was tonight and we got in late but its all good.
Mind you, there is alot of crazy shit going on between the ex and I-to putit bluntly-but it is mother's day. "
