Affirmations

Affirmations are expressions that have the power to transform your life by influencing the way you think about yourself, others, and the world around you. When you change how you think, you change how you act, and the results can be immensely rewarding.

Select from below the affirmation which you feel most applies to you. Write it down on a piece of paper and place it where you will be sure to read it at least once each day, for example, on your car dashboard, on your refrigerator door, or on your bathroom mirror.

-I can live my life without knowing all of the answers.
-The ghosts of my past can no longer haunt me.
-The best revenge is living well.
-I forgive my mother and my father.
-I welcome your new ideas and feedback.
-I love myself, I let go, and I am reaching out.
-I am able to relax and maintain good form when around strangers or in unfamilar places.
-I talk about myself in the most self-enhancing way possible.
-I acknowledge the participation and contributions of others.
-I am worthy of the respect, attention, and love that I receive from others.
-I do the things which get me recognition and positive strokes.
-I am bright and capable of success in any endeavor which I may choose.
-I can learn how to live with pain so that I can get what I want from my life.

Probably the best affirmations are the ones you create for yourself. Affirmations can be one part of your plan for recovery or growth, along with whatever else works well for you, be it prayer, self-talk, visualization, therapy, counseling, music, relaxation techniques, support groups, physical exercise, community involvement, volunteering, school, goal setting, improving your appearance, beginning new relationships, finding a job you enjoy doing...It's all out there waiting for you-what are you waiting for?
