School will be starting in a couple of months and I want to be almost a new person. I want to be able to go up to people I haven't talked to before and say "Hey, what's up?" and start a conversation with them. It's just that a lot of the time, I don't have the guts because you know, high school has its cliques and it's weird butting in on them. Plus, if I do get the guts, I never can think of something to say! I rack my brain for stuff to say, but nothing comes to mind. Does anyone have any ideas on how I can cope with all of this?

" I'm having the exact same problem. I was talking to one of my friends (who is extremely outgoing and confident) and he made me realize that i dont really know what i want or who i am, and i think it would be a lot easier to talk to people if i knew exactly who i was...so i'm still trying to figure that out. " im the same way i never know how to start up a conversation. so here's what i do. it sometimes works. look at their clothes and try to see what their in to. like if they have and ac-dc shirt and u dont know anything about ac-dc then look online line and find interesting facts that people like to talk about like juicy rumors, then talk about the singers, etc. if yur like me with nothing to think about on the spot, then take 30 minutes to think about what to talk about. if its girls then talk about who u think is cute or talk about what the clothes they like and stores and their sales, and stuff. just basically see what your peers like and then take some time to think about how to talk with them and stuff. u can always get help from yur mom. hoped this help. :D "

" I know what you mean. I will be going to a new school, robably starting late, and I'm nervous and scared that I will be too shy to make friends. I think adults forget how scary this all is; high school, cliques, butting into cliques. If I didn't have all of you to talk to, I might go crazy with the loneliness.

I think we just gotta get past our fears of making fools of ourselves. We gotta get out there and just take that chance. I know, I know; easier said than done. Still, what's the worst that could happen other than we find out who we don't want to be friends with? "
