I see alot of posts on here asking if people can say their post may be triggering, I don't understand it, does this just apply to addicted self harmers? I personally couldn't be triggered my SI doesn't work like that, what could a post say to trigger you? Just the mention of blood or cuts?

" Obviously your refering to my post so i will gladly enlighten you.
basically we are her to help other people, and YES a lot of people CAN be triggered by certain posts mentioning cutting.
obviously this board will have a lot of them, but there are also posts that do not state anything about cutting, simply how people deal with things or how they are feeling.
personally i do not get triggered by others posts either, but because other people do i felt i wanted to do something about it to help them, as this is a board to help people.
hope this helps you to kind of understand my reasoning : )

" different things trigger people, i don't know if it's just addicted people, if I see a picture thats too graphic or a description of someones urges I can be triggered, I guess some people's head's just don't work like that "

" Stackee, it sounded like you took this personally, I have been wondering about this for a while it is not a response to your post in particular. "

" My SI is not triggered by reading any type of post on here. For me, it doesn't work that way, my SI is a response to a personal situation I can't deal with in any other way. But I realise that for some, descriptions of urges or incidents of SI CAN be triggering, hence the need to be careful, and warn others of the contents of posts "

" I haven't been triggered by anything on here. This is a very emotional, supportive place so I don't feel tempted.

However, since I'm doing a report on SI, I have been feeling urges that I'm doing my best to suppress. "

" its like seeing or hearing someone has been cutting, being familar with that feeling gives you a craving (urge) wanting to do it again.

for me anything to do with SI makes me want to do it. i do tent to stay clear of the "triggering" posts, not to be mean but i am doing myself a favour. maybe one day i will be strong enough to deal with the posts. and i love helping people but i just cant deal with triggering stuff. and i am not a everyday cutter i have been clean for nearly a month. but my longest cut free time is 6 mnths. i dont get the urge everyday but i still easily get triggered.
it just depends on the person. "

" Funny, im actually the opposite. Seeing cuts or blood gives me a similar feeling to doing it myself, and usually after that i can restrain myself. maybe its weird, but when i cut i take a picture, so later i can just look at it and not have to actually do it again. it works for me. "
