Can Exercise be used to Manage Scoliosis

Hello

I was wondering if anybody would recommend any exercises for managing scoliosis. I have had scoliosis for a long time and it is fairly pronounced . However, I have noticed that my curvature reduces when I am stress-free, well rested and have been working out regularly. I have read that pilates really helps to manage the curvature. And I have a book on pilates and core strength where the author insists that the workouts in the book will eliminate the curve. I know that scoliosis is with me till I die but I would like to prevent it from getting worse. Also the model/actress Rebecca Romijn has scoliosis and she said in an edition of Self that pilates helps her out with it. So I would like to know if somebody out there feels exercise has helped a lot. I have difficulty working my core muscles so the potential of improving my curvature could be a huge motivator for me.

" While scoliosis cannot exactly be managed in any sort of way it can be relieved with stretches. Loosening and stretching the muscles in the back are very helpful especially during the winter season when the cold is as it's worst and bones feel like painful needles. I'm sure you know what I mean. I don't have time right now but if you PM me I'll write down a list of great almost painless stretches that my doctor recomended for me. Sometimes they make you a little sore at first but it passes. Peace. "

" I too experience less pronounced curvature after I've stretched and are not stressed. When you muscles are weak, thats where pain attacks OR if your under stress, pain attacks the weakest areas of your body. Just google pilates and scoliosis and there are several websites that will show you exercies you can do at home. "
