My entire life my back was bent my family hasnt once talked to me about it. Only until recently I've discovered that I might have scoliosis, it hurts whenever I do anything strenuos. I think about alot and finally come to the conclusion that maybe nothing can really be done for me, I still don't get why they wouldn't explain my situation. Talking to them is hard, I'm pretty sure they'd give me the run around when I ask. I don't have a pic now but I'll post one soon, my back is very bent. Is it bad if you haven't had treatment or analysis in years?

" I wouldn't know how to answer your questions, but I have had scoliosis all my life. I'm sixteen, but I go about my life in stride. My lower back hurts only when I have been standing or walking for over a few seconds, literally. I'm basically confined to a wheelchair for this reason, except at home. I don't feel that living with the condition is bad...it's not a death sentence exscept perhaps in very rare cases. When I was very little, my doctors had estimated that, by this age, my curve would have progressed so that it would crush my lungs. But since my surgery to detether my spinal cord from my hips in '01, my curve hasn't gotten worse.
As for treatment, I know nothing. Personally I have only had one back surgery and no treatment. My old doctors had said that a brace wouldn't help, and I've heard from others that the rods don't work. I don't know what your doctors will tell you, or what treatment you will receive, but I wish you the best of luck. "
