Boyfriend with auditory hallucinations

My boyfriend was diagnosed with schizophrenia about 5 years ago. He tends to suffer primarily from auditory hallucination (i.e. having conversations with himself and another personality.). He only lets this come out verbally when he drinks alcohol.
Other than him not drinking.... does anyone have any suggestions for helping him cope without offending him? It is very hard for him to sleep and function in general sometimes. Even though my aunt has schizophrenia, I've never had to deal with this illness one on one. Any tips would help and would be greatly appreciated! Thank you! Posted on 05/13/08, 03:05 pm |

Hopefully he is taking meds because they can work wonders. They don't really call my husband schizophrenia, but he has they same sympotms although he thinks there is a chip in his jaw. But the medication seems to help them function... If he is not sleeping that can play a big role in it...
