Painful instep

My instep on both feet throb like a dull toothache. I have gone to see a podiatrist that gave me a shot of cortizone. That didn't help. My rheumy prescribed neuronton which is a seizure medication. She said it should calm down the nerve endings. All it does is put me to sleep.I already take 2 pills a day and could increase the dose. Before doing that I would like to know if anyone else has this problem and how they handle it. Help...my aching feet!

" I don't know if this will be helpful at all, but when I first came down with RA one of the things that began hurting was my feet. I thought it was just part of the RA but my rheumy said it wasn't related, that I had plantar faciitis. But I hadn't ever had pain in my feet before RA so I believe there was some correlation. I finally went to a chiropractor, of all things, and he used an electrical stimulation machine on my feet, 5 minute treatments three days a week, and within a few weeks the pain was gone and stayed away for a year! Now my RA has begun flaring back up and along with the stiffness my feet are hurting again. There's some kind of relationship, at least for me, in the inflammation in my joints to the pain in my feet. I plan to go back to the chiropractor as soon as my insurance kicks in again. "

" Thanks 9 for the info. I don't think it is planter facitis because I have pain on the tops of my feet. Is it possible this condition can effect the tops of your feet? My Mom has one of those machines your chiropractor used, they are called Tens machines. Maybe I will borrow it and see if trying electro theraphy works. It certainly is worth a try. Thanks so much for your imput!Hope you are able to get your insurance to kick in again soon! "
