New here - introducing myself

I stumbed across this site while doing some research on PE and wanted to introduce myself. I'm 30 years old, and had a PE on 6/9/08. Was released from the hospital 4 days later. I'm off the Lovenox shots, and taking the Coumadin pills.

Doctors told me I had the "trifecta" of conditions that led to my PE, which I'm told is very large and is in both my lungs and putting pressure on my heart (all EKG and Echos came back ok, though). I suffered a stress fracture in my right leg, and was in a walking cast for about 6 weeks. During that time, I traveled to Korea for work (20 hour plane flight each way). I was also taking birth control.

After reading some of the posts already, I'm comforted to hear others are having "pings" or sharp pains after eating...I was concerned about that. I'm back at work for a few hours every day now, but am tired very quickly.

Any advice on how soon is too soon to get back to the gym would be appreciated. I used to run every day, and I would love to slowly work my way back. I was thinking of going for a short walk this weekend to see how I feel, but if anyone has had experience with this, please let me know.

I'm glad I found this website. I'm sure there will be lots of questions as I continue on the medication (and hopefully start a family once I'm off).

" Hi aztodc! I am new to this site too, but I would like to say welcome! I was also a big fan of running (go Marathons!!) before I was diagnosed with PE (6/28). I had asked my doctor of exercising after I got out of the hospital, and she told me to just focus on walking. Even just walking a little too fast can cause me to feel a dull ache in my chest. For me I want to get back into running and start training for my next marathon, but then again what we have isn't just a running injury where we can get back into the normal routine after a little bit of rest. For now I am aiming at shorts walks, in Sept try some Yoga and then at the end of the year do a CT scan to see if the clots are gone or smaller.

I hope this helps. =) "

" Hello -welcome, but slow down! Listen to your body as far as exercise goes. Start by walking -if that goes OK then slowly increase until you are back to where you want to be. Some people are OK in a month or so, some of us are 9 months out and still having trouble. Everyon's situation is different. I think urviving has a good plan that is reasonable. A lot of people push it and end up 3 steps back. Be careful and good luck! "
