Hello Renee,
Yes, it is frustrating. My INR has beenbetween 2.0 and 2.9. When it goes hig, my physician tells me to decrease from 10 mg daily to 3 days of 10 and then one day of 9mg. I am wondering whether always changing the dosage will not enable the body to adjust. I still go twice weekly for bloodwork..I am so tired of this...but I know I have to continue being diligent in keeping monitored. Keep in touch and let me know how you are doing. Take care,Elise

My doses are forever changing. At first it was like 3-4 mg, then 6-7mg, now 7.5mg, and extra 10mg boosts occasionally, first time of a one week reprieve from the vampires! usually 1.9-3.1. I am at the 6 month mark too.

When I was taking the warfarin for the DVT/PE, I was on 15mgs a day.
Now with my new clot in my arm, I just started warfarin a week ago and I'm up to 10mgs a day. I have an INR test in a few days. My INR is really stubborn.

Hi Renee,
I have been on 12.5 mg for a couple of years now. I have had months in the past where I have had to stagger my dosages and it is frustrating and hard to keep up with at times. Hopefully you will find a happy medium soon... take care

It's been a year now and I'm still not stabilized. As of today I was upped to 8mg. My INR are staying either below 2.0 or under 2.3. Doc wants me at 2.5-3.0

I go between 5mg and 7.5mg a day. My INR has been as low as 1.4 and high as 3.7. I haven't had it checked in a while so I know I need to go back in......it's just so frustrating.

My INR has been pretty stable lately. Unfortantly its always around 1.5. So every other week my dose is changed. Right now i'm 7mgs a day. We'll see how much that changes on tuesday.

Thanks everyone! It's just nice to know I'm not the only one who struggles with this! I am going in next week to have my vitamin K levels checked, I read some studies that patients who had unstable INR's can benefit from taking a low dose vitamin K, my natural path thinks I may not have any vitamin K resevoir to get this stablized so we shall see, I just get so anxious with taking so much and being unstable....what a journey this is! Again, I thank-you and it's a comfort just to be able to talk about! Renee

I met with a hematologist yesterday for the first time and he asked how I felt about the likelihood of being on warfarin for life. I told him that I'm accepting it, but with my INR always so low, I don't like the idea of being on such a high dosage of warfarin for life. He said, really, what does it matter if it's 5mgs or 15 mgs as long as it works for you? I thought, you know, that makes sense. He didn't seem to phased by dosage. I think I was so used to nurses and my own doctors giving me that look of horror when I was on 15mgs that I started to feel like a bit of a freak.
While so many of our experiences mirror each other, it sure seems like everyone's treatment and response to the treatment is totally unique to their own physiology.
