" This is an old topic that I'm resurrecting ... just out of curiosity. Has anyone heard of Yasmin being one of the worst birth control pills? I finally saw a hematologist this week, and there is nothing in my blood work to indicate anything hereditary. Luckily, I had a full screening last fall so they were able to test me while I wasn't on warfarin (which I know can skew the results). Once she told me that, the first thing she did was to ask, "Were you by chance on Yasmin at the time of the PE?" I wasn't ... but I had just recently gone off the month before. She said I am her 5th or 6th PE patient who is young, healthy, fit, don't smoke, no underlying genetic factors ... the one thing we all have in common is Yasmin. In my opinion, that's a lot for one doctor's career (and she appears to be young). One other thing that "could" be a factor is that my dad died of a PE when he was 53, but she said given his history of injury (bad motorcycle accident/coumpound fracture of both shin bones) and subsequent circulatory issues (he wore a compression sock but was not prescribed any anticoags), that he likely did not have any underlying factors for PE, either. I have no other relatives who have had any issues and most have lived to ripe, old ages - my dad is the only anomoly.

I just feel like this stinks! I know there's no way to "prove" it was the pill, but just given what this doc said, I'm scared for women out there who are taking this pill. When the risk is PE and possibly death ... jeez, Louise! "

" I was on Yasmin too, yet to have my tests to find out what caused my PE's, even if it is hereditory i don't think it helped!! No-one is told about this, its mentioned in passing but the risks arent discussed, when i went to hospital i'd never heard of a PE let alone thought i would get one....! "
