Would appreciate some opinions.

I was diag in May 2006 with it and after a few weeks on Cipro, it went away. This year, it came back and after being on Cipro for almost 3 months , my urologist took me off the meds today. He said he does not want to screw up my immune system but also does not know what else to do. He mentioned a cryo-procedure that kills prostate cells but impacts fertility. He said he would not do that for me at age 29. Did not mention any other Rx. At 29 I am sacred that my only two options are a life of pain or jeoparding fertility. Any advice would me really appreciated guys!

" Saw my family MD and he decided to try me on doxycycline for 14 days. After 10-12 weeks of Cipro i am feeling some really unnatural feeling in my joints. I workout and keep in shape and had no joint or muscle weakness until now. WTF. I only realized the connection after reading a post here. My urologist mentioned nothing about adverse effects. Will post back in a week to report if doxycycline worked. "

" Actually it was for 7 days that my family MD put me on doxycycline. 2 days left and i am ecstatic to say that i am responding. I am surprised that Cipro was almost useless but ddoxycycline seems effective. I would also like to WARN those who are prescribed Cipro by their MDs for long periods to be wary. My joint problems have gotten worse and i am noticing dental issues. Since i am a young and in shape, I have to agree with opinions on the net on the harmful side effects of Cipro. "

" Posting an update so someone can benefit from my experience. In summary. Cipro did not work. Doxycycline worked but as soon as i came off it (was on it for 14 days twice) the symptoms came back. I have been on holistic medicine from a Dr. in California and have been taking daily doses of "Oil of Oregano" and regular prostatic massages. Almost 2 months now without any pain. I honestly dont know it its the hollistic medicine or oil of oregano drops but its working. Almost 2 months without pain and any pharmaceuticals. If you want the number for this Dr. send me a note/message! Will update in a few weeks again. "

" Your responses describe nerve issues of the autonomic system.

Go to the neuropathy group and look up the topics that have "autonomic" in the subject line.

I think that this site will help you with resources and links, but how others have dealt with similar issues. The site also has over 80 picture / images to help you better understand, in addition, we are well over 300 members now!

Thought we could help.. http://dailystrength.org/groups/ne... "

" Glad you found something that worked for you. I took doxycycline too and it helped me, but a few days ago I noticed some of the symptoms coming back. I do not have pain in my prostate area, but in my uretha. I agree with you on the Cipro for long term use. I see this is a pretty old post, but I would be interested in getting contact info for you Dr. in California. Thanks and God bless you. "
