Find Da Vinci surgeon in Texas

I have been recently diagnosed with prostate cancer and am seeking information regarding the Da Vinci Robotic prostatectomy procedure. I am 55 yrs. old. My PSA is 3.9 w/ .5 Free PSA and 13% Free PSA. My biospsy results indicated 3 of 12 samples were cancerous with a gleason score of 6. I have had no prior surgery.

I have spoken with 2 surgeons; one prefers traditional open prostatectomy and the other surgeon recommends laparoscopic surgery. I am interested in exploring the Da Vinci Robotic surgery. I live in the Dallas-Fort Worth area and have been unable to locate a surgeon experienced in this technique who has completed very many of these surgeries. I have read about Dr. Randy Fagin in Austin,Tx; Dr. Justin Lee in Arlington, Tx. and Dr. Kevin Slawin in houston ,Tx. Does any one know anything about these guys?

Can you please assist me in locating an experienced Da Vinci Robotics surgeon in your Texas. I am willing to travel out of my Dallas for the surgery if necessary.
Thanks,
Laswell

" I just underwent the da Vinci robotic procedure in late June, and I would highly recommend it. The surgery successfully removed the prostate and cancer, and the margins were clean. Recovery was much faster than the traditional approach...I was only in for an overnight stay, catheter was out in one week, back to work in 4 weeks, and now 7 weeks later, I am exercising and functioning near normal. Continence is very good as well. If I were you though, I would not restrict my search to Texas. The surgeon who pioneered this procedure is based in Detroit at Henry Ford Hospital, Dr. Mani Menon, at the Vettikuti Institute. He has over 3,500 procedures performed since 2001, and many of the surgeons in the country trained under him. Going with the "teacher" would be a better prospect than the students. "

" Laslo - I underwent the Da Vinci surgery in Dec of 2006. Good results. The surgery was preformed by Doctor Richard M Vanlangendon at Ochsner Medical Center in New Orleans. He has a good track record and is experienced. With this type of operation, favorable outcome depends alot on the surgents experience. "
