" Keyman,
My doctor tells me this is SO necessary that it's not even something to decide! Just do it! I get Lupron, which I assume you are getting. Lupron gives me hot flashes, sweats, chills, etc. I take a drug called Megace, 20mg per day, to counteract these side effects. It does help me by lessening the side effects, but doesn't make them go away. I just wish they'd stop calling it chemical castration! But, as the name implies, it has totally eliminated my sex drive. Hard to adjust to, particularly for my wife, but we just have to decide that this is a price we pay to be alive! Good luck and hang in there! "

" My prostrate was removed which caused total impotency. I'm 62 and not married so that isn't a problem for me.

My cancer had migrated into the nymph notes and is not curable. I have a hormone shot every three months. This has caused me to loose most of the hair on my chest and legs, my breast have enlarged a little and my hips have broaden a bit.

I take a casodex pill daily which has a side effect akin to a woman in menopause; namely hot and cold flashes.
That niusance is corrected by megestrol (1/2 a pill in the a.m./p.m).

The hormone shots coupled with the casodex has kept my cancer in remission for the past three years.

My doctor may try chemo when the aforemention treatment stops working.

I life expectancy was 3 to 5 years but was recently upgraded to 5 to 10 years.

For me, keyman, the key is making each day count. "

" Really I don't know. I am 45 and have been on Hormone theary, or ADT for 7 months. i have advanced prostate cancer. I am doing ok and have no real complaints. Same issues, but my wife and I are very close. It's my work that I feel I suffer the most. I am emotional and there is little room for emotions here. But I thrive and will continue to meet expectations, I hope. I am not overly "flashed" but I do keep a cool room in the house. Surviving well!

Tony "
