" IM addicted to xanax but its the only benzo that calms my mind down to go to sleep. if your addicted 1 advice is to ask your doc for another kinda pain pill that isnt so addictive, you may have to go to detox for a few days to get off your current med but switching meds could possiable help you alot! having a drug of choice that is prescribed to you is awful, i know after 8 yrs on xanax but have to have it so i can sleep! i wish you the best of luck! " Pain medication is definintly an upper for most people with a tolerance and causes insomnia...I would tell your doc you aren't sleeping and the meds are not working so well..If they could find one pain med to stick to that worked for you that would be great..But you will probobly always need some pain killers..just something to help you rest well to..best wishes./.....M "

" Hello, Dadon...First, I can definitely relate, as can many others. If you haven't already done this, what I would first suggest that you do is to get a referral to a chronic pain clinic. At the same time, you need to tell your doc what's going on. Of course, he/she would be the one to make this judgment, but the meds you are on aren't the best ones for chronic, non-terminal pain. Oxycodone, and especially Oxycontin, are notorious for causing problems with addiction, and are responsible for an extremely large portion of the opiate-related deaths and admissions to addiction clinics around the world.

I had the exact same problem some years ago, with the exact same drugs, and the problems got VERY bad, VERY fast once I reached the point that you are describing. And, that is the plan I pursued, and it is the one that saved my life. The chronic pain docs fixed me up with better meds and better treatments for my pain, and got me out of that terrible up-down cycle with the Oxy products. In my case, they put me on methadone, which is much longer acting than oxycodone, so I only had to take it twice a day. At this point, I can tell you with certainty that you need to act fast, 'cause it all goes straight down from here. "

" I am so very sorry for the suffering you are going through and how much you are hurting emotionally and that you are mostly suffering in secret...thank God you found this place for yourself...I CAN relate exactly to the kind of pain you are speaking of and I am having success with a medication called "Neurontin" which is excellent for nerve pain...I am also seeing a very good physical therapist who is finding spots all over my back and stomach too where muscles are tweaked and nerves are involved so she is moving stuff and releasing things and I'm feeling better after each visit with her, so I highly recommend you find yourself a specialized physical therapist..I am on MS Contin 30 mg. twice a day and it has helped some, but not as good as when I was on Oxycontin...they are all addictive meds but under the care of a Dr. you can stay safe if you use them as prescribed..and don't abuse them...I also have faith in God and believe in the supernatural power of the Holy Ghost of Jesus Christ and am pressing in through the power of prayer and have the laying on of hands regularly by other believers...this is helping me tremendously..reading my bible is building my faith and helping me to stay positive...I wish you the best..it takes time to heal and are you able to talk to you wife about this? I feel bad for you if you feel you can't be open about this..my own family abandoned me over it all...they are weak..I forgive them..I'll keep you in my prayers until you get the answers you need..I have found ALL my answers come from the Lord..lil "
