" I have been having the same controversy with class b drugs all day! except mine is for treating a bacterial infection. and the medicine that my dr gave me is much stronger and more severe than tylenol. i literally just got off the phone with my nurse and she told me that class b drugs are in no way harmful during pregnancy. also, a good website to go to is safefetus.com. someone on here referred me to that. but yes tylenol is definately safe to take. i'm not sure about sudafed though. i'm guessing that if it has the same ingredients that it is. i also read that very few drugs are considered class a, and that class b is perfectly fine. if you have any concerns whatsoever i would call your doctor or nurse just to ease your mind. good luck:) "

" yea, i assumed that class b was bad too. and i also thought for sure that tylenol would be under class a. but to my surprise it wasn't. i've been told by everyone including more than one doctor that tylenol is really the only pain reliever i should be taking. and to be honest i haven't taken it once unless i have an extreme need to. and the nurse, like i said told me that most drugs are under class b. and those are the healthy ones. sounds weird, but if you're anything like me, you won't want to take anything until you talk to your doctor. which is fine; i usually do my own research, then i present that to the doctor with any questions i have. you'll be surprised how contradicting and how wrong the internet can be sometimes. just get your questions ready, and you can never be too safe!:) "

" Folks, there are no class A drugs -- except prenatal vitamins. In general, class B drugs are considered safe, class C drugs are only to be used when necessary (because research hasn't been done on these, but antedotal evidence suggests they are ok), and any other classes are to be avoided. Tylenol, benadryl, etc., are class B and are safe to take. Suedafed (sp?) is safe as well, but only after 13 weeks. "

" I was told by my OB and midwife to only take Tylenol, that's it, nothing else. Absolutely under no circumstances should I take Advil or any type of Ibuprofen. "

" With my first kiddo I went to a Dr at a hospital and they gave me a whole book that answered questions about pregnancy. One of the things theygave was a list of "safe (if necessary)" list of meds. If you want I can post them but that was 3 years ago and they always change their minds. Especially if you have special circumstances you should go but what YOUR doc says.

Even if you haven't had your first appointment you can call and ask. I'm sure they would rather you ask then risk. Most OB's have a nurse you can talk to (leave a message) and my midwife will call me within a day if I call. "
