Hey Ladies...
I am current fighting a cold and feel so crappy. I am 33 weeks so I was already tired, but now I feel more exhausted and sore all over. Does anyone have any good tips or advice on surviving a cold in pregnancy? Posted on 07/24/08, 04:07 pm |

Lots of rest. I had strep throat about 6 weeks ago ( I was 21w pregnant) I felt miserable. I slept a lot and drank a lot of fluid. Keep yourself hydrated. I also took regular tylenol for aches. The Dr. said reg. tylenol is ok. I also ran a vaporizer at night. Helped me breathe a lot better. Hope you feel LOTS better soon!

My dr. gave out a list of meds that are safe... sudafed and afrin are listed for congestion. Otherwise, lots of rest and fluids.

I know how you feel besides the 33 weeks prego...not quite there yet, but soon after I found out i was prego I got a horrible sinus infection. I recommend sudafed, it really works and cleared my nose up and also benadryl but that will contribute to the sleepiness, so i only took that when i was going to bed.
I hope you feel better soon!

when I was pregnant with my son I got a sinus and throat infection and needed to go on anti biotics. I didn't take anything medicine wise for the cold part but I drank lots of honey lemon tea, snuggled up to a warm water bottle and slept as much as I could other than that good old tylenol helped with the body aches and soreness. I hope you start to feel better soon!! Something that also is great for a stuffy nose is getting some candied ginger (or real ginger root if if you can handle that hot taste) and chew on it a bit. It can help settle a stomach and just make you feel nice and warm all over and help to unclog a nose.

im just gettin over a summer cold and all that helped me was olbas oil on a tissue at the side of my pillow during the night to stop me from heezing too much. i havent taken any painkillers cos the only ones that work on me are cocodamol 30/500 which are really strong and addictive.... try olbas oil, vicks and maybe even good old fashioned strong onions to unblock ur nose and keep the fluids up as much as you can. lucozade worked wonders for me. take care. xxx
