I had a vaginal delivery and 2nd degree tear, I was expecting discomfort but am finding it un bearable. The midwife says it looks normal just very swollen and bruised but I can't take proper care of my baby due to the pain. I pour water over myself when I go to the toilet which helps but I still cry from it! Is there anything except paracetemol I can take, and how long will it take for the pain to go? I can't take much more!

" I know this may sound weird but I had the same problem as you. With my first I tore from front to back. Couldnt sit for long periods due to the pain. When I was in the hospital they gave me ice packs to put down there and to sit on and a squeeze bottle to fill with warm water and put down there after going to the restroom, the combination of those 2 things and some mild pain killers helped me. " 13 years ago when I had my son, I had 4th degree lacerations, even though it was so long ago, I do feel your pain. For me it took about 3 weeks to be able to move without feeling liek I was going to split in 2. They did give the Tucks hemmroid pads which did help take away the sting some along with Dermoplast spray at the hospital, this wasn't the end all be all to fix the pain, but it did make it a little more bearable, they still do this now, because this is what they gave me after my last 2 babies as well. " Earth Mama Angel Baby makes wonderful products for just those ouchies! I have used the spray, ointment, and the soak.. LOVED them all! I am so sorry mama.. I had the same problem with my second DS.. this one I luckily had none. Soaking in a bath was the only thing I could basically do for the first week. Mine took between 2-3 weeks before I could sit down and feel comfortable. "

" I had an episiotomy and i mourned over it for weeks. I was so angry about it and the pain was awful. For me it lasted a few weeks. try peeing in the shower (or bath and then soap up and rinse off) Keep using ice and take it easy. Make sure to have a good easy diet to help with the passing of uh solids. it does get better and remember you have a beautiful life to show for this pain that will go away. "

" sounds simple but ice goes a long way... try to keep the swelling down as much as you can which will help with healing and the pain and discomfort. That being said there have been some awesome references to some good products you could try... I'm glad to hear you are having someone keep an eye on it... I won't go into what happened with me but you should start feeling better soon... it sucks I know. "
