During the week my son got into an altrication with the boy across the street. They were playing football and the one boy shoved my son who shoved him back. The boy told my son to leave his property and never come back. My son came in fuming mad. The boy's father is a REAL jerk. I have had to deal with him in the past when their was a different spat between these boys and he was a dozey. I told my son it was best to stay away from this boy and he was not to play at his house anymore. I told him he was lucky the boy backed down and walked away as I know my son he would have stood his ground and fought with the boy as he doesn't like being bullied or pushed around. My son competes in sparring in Karate and I know the other boy would have gotten hurt if he threw one punch at my son and my son knew he had a right to defend himself and was angry to boot! Then, I would have had another unpleasant altrication with the boys father only worse because his son would have gotten hurt on his property!?!?! Sunday morning I thought he was playing in our yard with other friends. I look out the window and he is coming across the street from this boys house. I was SO angry. He came in and said "he made up with the boy so it was OK" Then hubby tells me he didn't realize I had this problem a few days ago and this boy was in our yard this morning! I didn't raise my voice. I told him I was very dissapointed, he knew he was not allowed there and he was grounded. I explained just because he decided to "make up" with this boy doesn't mean I am ok with him playing with him again & I don't want him to be around this boy. He totally lost it and had an 12 yr old anger hormonal meltdown yelling at me and telling me "he hated me" twice. One time he yelled it all the way across the room "I HATE YOU"! I know he doesn't. He has a terrible anger problem....I know he is an adolescent. What am I to do? Say "he is an adolescent so I don't need to respond and it will go away in time". I try to talk and reason with him to no avail. It just makes the situation worse for both of us. I am hurt everytime he feels the need to be angry and lash out he attacks me with no consideration of how badly he is hurting me. As soon as he calms down he goes on as nothing happened! He is going to be coming home from school and expecting me to act like everything is alright like I usually do. However, it is not all right. I am frustrated with his not respecting my rules, constantly argueing and doing things he knows will hurt me intentionally. He is my only child and I am at a total loss....pls HELP!!!
