I have a kidney disease and the met was making them hurt everyday. I understand the importance of it but not if it's going to give me renal failure. So what I need to know is if anybody is on anything else just for the pcos and insulin. I am not TTC so it does not matter to me weather I have AF or not. I can't take BC because of the kidney disease so I am not sure the if the hormones were being controlled at all. I go to the kidney dr next week and after I see him I will go back to my primary to let her know. In the mean time anybody have some advice??

" I have heard of people managing thier PCOS with diest and exercise alone. I heard that going all organic and natural can decrease all the symptoms. I am reading the book PCOS Dietbook and it has really given me good ideas. Good luck! "

" Actose is a newer drug in the same class being used to treat pre-diabetics and PCOS. I'm not sure if it affects your kidneys in the same way, but it's worth looking into. "

" try chronium and saw palmetto as food supplements. chronium helps the body regulate its blood sugar, and the saw palmetto helps with any hair growth etc as it stops the colllection of testosterone. I have just started on these today and am not on metformin as newly diagnosed and trying alternative meds first. "

" I have been reading a bit online about the benefits of cinnamon and IR and PCOS .. just Google cinnamon and PCOS and you should be able to find out a lot of helpful info .. it might be worth a try but i would speak with your PCP to make sure this would not affect your kidneys. "

" I was taking Metformin and Avandia for 2.5 years. I lost almost 30 lbs and I eat right (for the most part) and exercise. I feel so much better being off the medication! It always made me feel sick and groggy. I have also heard of cinnamon being able to help control symptoms. Diet, and and exercise have worked for me and I've never felt better! :) "
