I'm just curious whether anyone else here has used an OPK and had success?

I've read all the hooha about counting the days between cycles to find out when to start testing. well i did that and i counted 32 days.

the only thing is 2 cycles ago was the one i had to take provera to start. and the second one came on its own.

so im hesitant to use the sticks, but im to anxious to wait until my next cycle.

any suggestions???

" I have used OPK's in the past. For me, i was never able to detect my surge unless i was on Clomid. I think this was because I don't ovulate on my own and my cycles were all over the place. The OPK's can be quite expensive, so I started to order mine online for www.babycreation.com This website sells OPK's for alot cheaper and they work just as well. GL to you! I have been TTC for 4 years and am getting ready to do IVF. "

" Ill have to check out that web site.

I just finished taking my first round of Clomid last week. I asked my doc if she thought getting a OPK would be helpful and she said yes.

I spent $30 on clear blue easy. I was hesitant but figured if I want a baby that bad I'll do anything.

Will the Clomid give my OPK a false result? "

" No, it won't. It just helps to make your cycle an "average length" that way you can pick up the surge around the CD12-18 time range. Off of Clomid my cycles were so long that I could never pick it up..I also never ovulated either so that could have been a problem as well. They picked up my surge on all 3 of my clomid rounds. "

" see i was a little unsure as to when i should start testing with my OPK because my last cycle was 32 days. of course it was between a period that i had to take provera to induce and a period i got on my own. so in other words to be safe i should start testing now i guess? ill shell out as much as i have to on OPK's. lol. " My Dr. always told me to start OPK's on CD 12. Did you do Clomid on CD3-7 or 5-9? "

" Don't do them first thing in the morning!!!The best time of day to do them is between 10:00-2:00 because your LH goes up during the morning. You should be ok to start tomorrow. What CD are you on? "

" Definety start tomorrow. It is doubtful that you would have surged already..the average is from CD 14-16 but I have ovulated as late as CD21 so you may have to do it a little bit longer. I am glad I could help you. I am no expert but if you ever have any other questions, please feel free to message me and let me know. I will help you out the best I can. After 4 years, I have a great amount of IF treatment knowledge. "
