" The story I heard was about a police officer that was in a car crash. He had spinal surgury followed by lots of pain. After taking all the regular painkillers, his doctor says lets try Oxycontin. It worked!

After 3 pain free years on the drug, he had a heart attack! The first in his whole family tree! They also did CT scans his back, he had another broken disk. Why wasn't he in an ER because of it? Because he didn't feel the pain at all on the drug.

The drug is also highly addictive. He needed to stop using the drug. What did the doctor prescribe but Methadone. Methadone is used to clean up crack heads. It also has a pain killer effect which is why the police officer was using it for.

Right now, he can't remain standing or seated for short periods of time. So he can't be on the street or at a desk. "

" I read a story recently that some pharmacies are refusing to carry Oxycontin because it is so addictive that people were robbing their stores at gunpoint to get it. I've never had enough pain to need something that strong and dangerous, and I certainly hope I never will. "

" I can understand this about oxycontin. My pain management doctor prescribed to me about 3 years ago and I asked for him to take me off of it. I did not like how it made me feel. I became very hostile and just down right mean. I immediately stopped taking the medication and my doctor prescribed something different. Fortunately, I didn't take it long enough to become addicted.
