Hi,

I believe that when they fail is a matter of medical history. My grandfather and father lost function at age 62. However, I do not smoke, or drink and control my blood pressure. Nephrologist says I should get another 10-15 years for it! Much better.

I agree that it depends on the person. My mother smoked, used drugs and had 3 children. She lost her function at 38 years old.

HI CLARE, I HAVE PKD AND ALL MY CHILDREN HAVE IT 4 OF THEM. I WAS 34 WHEN I FOUND OUT I AM NOW 50 BUT MY SPEALIST IS PREPAREING ME FOR ALL MY SHOTS AND GET ME READY FOR DIALYSIS SOME TIME THIS YEAR. MY KIDNEY FUCTION IS 18% CREATININE IS 3.5 . I HAVE NEVER SMOKED OR DRANK.DONT KNOW IF MY PARENTS HAD IT .
BUT TELL YOUR HUSBAND TO LIVE LIFE TO THE FULLIST. DO WHAT HE WOULD LIKE TO DO NOW. BECAUSE ONCE YOU ARE ON DALYSIS YOU ARE RESTRICT TO WHAT YOU CAN DO. IT DEPENDS ON WHAT TYPE YOU ARE ON . TELL HIM TO KEEP HIS CHIN UP THINKING OF YOU IN AUSTRALIA./
